| Health care in Spain, and the balance of Western Europe, is excellent. Even the smallest villages have facilities. The larger population centers all have top flight hospitals. Virtually all medications available in the United States are available in Europe, and at far lower prices. |
| In order to reside in Spain, and most of Europe, one must have health insurance. This, is not a significant problem in Europe. Unlike the United States, health insurance in Europe is affordable and accessable. This is due in large part to the lower cost of services. A 55 year old in good health could expect to pay around $100 per month for a very comprehensive plan. A person with health problems would pay slightly more, and have a waiting period (usually 2 years) for pre-existing conditions. If this is a problem, there are moderately priced strategies for gap coverage. We are not insurance agents, and have no connection with any insurance company, however, we can explain the options available to anyone needing assistance on these matters |
